Deborah Price, violist, is on the faculties of Denison University and the Cleveland Institute of Music. She is the founder and Artistic Director of the Chamber Music Connection, Inc. and served as the principal viola of the Columbus Bach Ensemble. She performs frequently with faculty members from Colleges and Universities on collaborative recitals and has performed several times as a guest violist with members of the renowned Cavani String Quartet. In recognition of her work as the Founder & Artistic Director of the Chamber Music Connection (CMC) she was named the Columbus Symphony Orchestra Community Music Educator of the year (2004). She has also received commendations from the Ohio House of Representatives and the Ohio Senate for excellence in teaching.

Throughout her youth, in addition to studying the violin and later the viola, Debbie received extensive dance training particularly in the field of ballet. At fifteen she was a member of The New School of Ballet's Student Company Ballet Workshop touring throughout the Albany, N.Y. tri city area including sites in the Berkshires and Saratoga. In addition to her dance training she also received training in choreography. Her teachers included Phyllis Marmein, Caren McGee-Russell, Robin Deets, Felix Smith, Elizabeth Carroll, Joseph Giacobbe, and Helgi Thomasson. She also had the opportunity to work with prima dancers and teachers of New York City Ballet and American Ballet Theatre in master class. She spent many summers watching New York City Ballet performances and hearing Philadelphia Orchestra concerts live in Saratoga, N.Y. -- both organizations have made the Saratoga Performing Arts Center their summer home for decades. One of her favorite memories is seeing, as an invited guest, from the back stage Suzanne Farrell and Peter Martins dancing famous pas-de-deux works while the Philadelphia Orchestra accompanied. It is through her extensive dance training and love for the art form that she attributes much of her understanding of how movement pertains to the music for performance as well as for tone production.

Debbie is an advocate for chamber music education and is a frequent guest artist for chamber music clinics and orchestra festivals having presented sessions in several state and national music conferences including ASTAw/NSOA National Conferences, Ohio Music Educators Association, Ohio Orchestra & String Teachers Association, Michigan MENC; Music Teachers National Association, and New York ASTA. She is co-conductor of the Cleveland Institute of Music Youth Camerata Strings and, for ten years, conducted the Women-In-Music String Sinfonia. She serves on the board of Chamber Music Columbus as co-chair of Outreach & Education and founded the Ohio OSTA Biennial Chamber Music Competition. Her collaborations in presenting chamber music educational events include work with members of the Cavani String Quartet, Weillerstein Trio, St. Lawrence String Quartet, Guarneri String Quartet, Emerson String Quartet, and Cleveland Quartet. She has coordinated and helped prepare multiple ensembles to compete in the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals of the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition (junior division). She has been featured on WOSU public radio in recognition of her work at CMC, and received acknowledgment for working with CMC Award Winning ensemble, opus. (string quartet), who is featured on the thirteen-part PBS television series From The Top during its inaugural season. Articles in regard to her teaching have been published in national journals including American String Teacher, where she served on the Editorial Committee for ten years, American Music Teacher, and Keyboard Companion Magazine. Debbie is also a contributing committee member (viola) for the 2003 ASTA String Syllabus.
